Are we the only ones who crave a sweet and salty homemade soft bar? It's the perfect colorful snack for a school day, or even a nature hike.
250 mL (1 cup) quick cooking oats
250 mL (1 cup) crispy rice cereal (Rice Krispies type)
1 egg
60 mL (¼ cup) honey
5 mL (1 tsp.) vanilla
80 mL (⅓ cup) pretzels, cut into small pieces (you can crush them right out of the bag)
80 ml (⅓ cup) coloured sugar-coated chocolates cut into pieces (such as Smarties, M&Ms or mini eggs)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
Line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix together the oats, crispy rice cereal, egg, honey and vanilla.
Add pretzels and chocolates and mix well.
Pour the mixture into the pan and press it firmly with your hands or a spatula.
Bake the mixture for 15 to 20 minutes, until the top is lightly browned.
Let cool for a few minutes, then cut your soft bars into pieces.
